Question: What do you do with 2,860 feet of PVC pipe?
Answer: Have an agility & obedience equipment building party!
When long-time Family Dog students Carol Hess &
Bruce DeNoyer offered to help build equipment for backyard agility
and obedience training, everyone jumped at the opportunity.
Bruce thought his offer would generate a little interest,
maybe a few PVC jumps and a see-saw or two.
Boy was he surprised when the requests started rolling in!
As a general contractor and owner of Real Property Solutions,
Bruce saw this project as a fun endeavor to help his own dog,
Rowdy, gain some backyard equipment…and while he was at it, he
could put together some things for fellow Family Dog students.
In the end, Bruce and family spent close to 100 hours doing
pre-party assembly at their home. This included 4, 412 saw cuts, 5,816 individual parts,
2,860 feet of PVC pipe and more, resulting in 396 separate units
that included 100+ jumps of all different types (bar, panel, broad
& tire), 15 teeter totters, 100+ weave poles, a dozen pause tables
and wobble boards.
Bruce & Carol did most of the prep work and assembly at home, then
delivered the components to Family Dog early on May 22.
When the first group of students arrived at 10:00 am, they
were put to work doing final assembly.
As more folks arrived, the workers also assembled a
fantastic potluck of wonderful treats, capped off with a yummy
agility equipment cake, a special surprise for Carol & Bruce from
Karen & Tim Evans
Carol’s fabulous organizational skills made
equipment delivery a breeze.
Then everyone helped stuff vehicles full of their new toys
and by 3:00 pm the Family Dog parking lot was back to normal.
This was such a wonderful opportunity for Family Dog students to
get backyard practice equipment! We can’t thank Bruce and Carol enough!
It was a very fun day spent with friends and
fellow students!
